Confirm the connection, not the neighborhood.
Ask the provider to verify service at the specific address, including installation feasibility and timing. Compare upload as well as download capacity, equipment needs and any contract restrictions. Availability is different from installed service, and installed service is different from a measured connection.
Take a call in the room.
Evaluate daylight, glare, door placement, noise, cooling and mobile reception where you will sit. A second workstation, video calls and a household on different schedules can change how usable a floor plan feels.
- Test cellular reception inside, not only in the driveway.
- Check door separation and sound transfer during a showing.
- Locate outlets, network equipment and likely cable routes.
- Understand HOA or lease restrictions before planning alterations.
Plan resilience realistically.
A backup internet connection or power arrangement may be useful, but capability depends on the address and the building. Ask qualified installers about electrical capacity, permitted work, safe equipment placement and maintenance. Do not treat a portable battery or a second provider as a guarantee against outages.
